National Youth Chess Championships Takes off

The Endgame Sports Multi-events, Inc. (ESMI) with its Founding President National Master/Atty. Cresencio “Cris” Aspiras Jr and National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman / President Deputy Speaker Cong. Prospero “ Butch” A. Pichay Jr, wish to officially and jointly announce the “2020 National Youth Online Chess Championships and Master Challenge Championship” to be held on Tuesday, September 29 to October 10, 2020.

Tournaments will be held via lichess  chess server and Zoom platform, and qualifying rounds will be from September 29th up to October 1st while the Grand-finals  will be on October 3 till 10, 2020. 

Each division will have a one day 7 round- swiss system qualifying round and two-day 11 round robin system Grand-finals with time format of 15 minutes and 5 seconds increment. 

The tourney under 17, 15, 13, 11, 9 and 7 years old boys and girls will run in parallel with the Open section dubbed as the Masters challenge. 

Endgame Sports  is the brainchild of former National Junior  Chess Champion in the mid  80’s and lawyer Cris Aspiras Jr, together with GMs Eugene Torre and  Jayson Gonzales, aficionados Jose Rodriguez and Ramir Libre. Their advocacy is to discover and develop chess talent. As he quipped "It is the goal of Endgame Sports to encourage the youth to keep on focusing their training to attain new heights.  It is only in being persistent in one’s development that a player can see progress. For the Masters level, it is a chance  to enhance the playing prowess of  our not so young players."  

And he added “As we take this journey together, I am honored to invite everyone to become a part of this endeavor, be in your capacity as member, supporter, friend, or sponsor."

“Youth program is the main thrust of the National chess program, Hence, we should all collaborate with Endgame Sports’ group. They have my full support, So, it is our desire to have partnership with any entity whose objective is to work together and for the common good of Philippine Chess” as stated by Cong. Butch Pichay Jr.
